Main purpose of the meeting: Meeting dedicated to discuss the latest changes in schedule, the high beta* run status and the plan for the ion run
Introduction (Filip)
Slide 5:
Jorg confirmed the cryo reconfiguration (possible access for experiments) is confirmed for Thursday 21 September.
Roderik commented that the ion setup plan has no contingency, which means that if there is an issue the ion physics run will shift accordingly.
Slide 8:
Witold asked to have the VdM filling scheme rather soon or ALTAS/CMS in order to feed it to their trigger group
Roderik commented that ideally the VdM filling scheme could be used as a stock fill. However, Filip and Jorg commented that ideally that would be probably too early and optimistic in terms of number of hours in Stable Beams as well as experts will be available to travel to CERN from next Monday onwards.
Sarah from ALICE also pointed out that the lack of the pp reference run will impact the commissioning time and therefore too fast of a ramp-up.
Slide 9:
Federico asked if the intensity ramp-up will need to be redone if we need to start with 100ns beams
Roderik and Jorg confirmed that the first steps are not necessary to be redone, probably to restart at 450b step.
Andrea (CMS)
Filip asked if the problem with the compressor is understood. Andrea confirmed that it is.
Sarah (ALICE)
Splashes may be expected in ALICE and LHCb during revalidation. From Wednesday 20 Sept onwards.
Silvia (ATLAS)
No questions
Niels (LHCb)
Roderik confirmed the peak instantaneous luminosity in LHCb will be around 1.1-1.2 x 10^27 cm-2s-1.
Filip confirmed that the strategy is to include INDIVs in the full machine filling scheme, on request of LHCb when optimal. Filip will send the filling scheme soon.
The ramp-up for next year will be optimized once we agree on the schedule of the pp reference.
Filip commented on the LHCC outcome:
LHCC noted the issues with the ATLAS magnet
LHCC expressed support for the plan for the end of 2023
LHCC Mike’s proposal to perform triplet polarity switch later in 2025 and change of crossing angle in 2024.
