Minutes and Summary

Main purpose of the meeting: Meeting dedicated to the high beta* run, the upcoming pp reference and the ion run preparation

Introduction (Filip)

Slide 8: Witold commented that sometimes during the ramp-up, ATLAS will request to perform the LSC that does not need a special VdM filling scheme. To be discussed when. Witold also asked if possible to “schedule” at best the VdM for travel constraints.

Slide 12: some extra discussion/input from experiments are needed for the PbPb VdM filling scheme. Witold commented that burn off mitigations should be managed, a strategy should be found. Roderik confirmed that it is expected that the burnoff will be quick as the beams are head-on.

Gabriella Pasztor asked what could be the earliest time for the VdM in pp reference run. Filip responded Friday or later.

Andrea (CMS)

Slide 2: Filip commented that the 654m b* value is just a saturation value.

Catrin (ATLAS)

Slide 4: Roderik and Filip confirmed that the max pileup value would be between 4.5-5, beam lifetime is in the O(xxh) and the spread should be around 10%.

Niels (LHCb)

Slide 1: Roderik confirmed that the leveling time in LHCb depends on the beam lifetime mostly.

Sarah (ALICE)

Slide 6: Jorg confirmed that it is sufficient to call CCC at the beginning of the fill to coordinate the leveling strategy during the high rate scans.

AoB:

after the meeting, it was agreed that after a cycle with 3b will be done to check the machine during the pp reference, in which AFP would also be inserted and SB declared. Then the next fill would be 12b, for about 2h, followed by the ramp-up.

Jorg also confirmed that an access should happen tomorrow, for about 2h in which experiments could profit.
