LPC meeting summary 03-07-2023 - final |
Main purpose of the meeting: Meeting dedicated to latest events (post-TS1 activities) and short-term planning
Filip (Introduction)
Slide 3.
De-squeeze optics for the very high beta* run still not available
Mu scan in CMS will be done when CMS is ready
David asked how many 2400b INDIVs fills will be done. Filip answered there is no hurry for now. In any case, first fill at 2400b with no INDIVs will be done during daytime.
Slide 13.
Collimation can do all combinations (H and V in crystal or crystal in V, but standard in H). Daniele Mirachi confirmed that depending on the level of cleaning needed, things can be decided.
A COLL WG meeting will be organized soon to decide on collimation strategy and decide at the next LPC.
Simulation is also ongoing.
No need to declare Stable Beams in the background test on June 18th.
ALICE (Sarah)
Slide 6.
Decided to wait to make a decision on the polarity, based on the first studies on commissioning from LHC colleagues
ATLAS (Catrin)
Slide 3.
Some coordination will be needed in order to be able to perform mu scans taking care of ATLAS/CMS leveling targets and readiness of trigger menus
CMS (Gianni)
Slide 2.
Emittance scan to 9 points remains the default. If ATLAS asks 15 points emittance scan, then the LHC will perform a 15 points emittance scan also in CMS
Michi highlighted that 62/59 is the current possible minimal difference between ATLAS/CMS.
Filip commented that more offline discussion will happen to define a policy
Slide 3.
Witold asked David if he observed sizable differences. David commented we will wait for the full analysis first.
LHCb (Niels)
Filip commented that we will perform a test in day time without INDIVs, then keep INDIVs for the rest of this week. Remove INDIVs from next week onwards.
