LPC meeting summary 22-05-2023 - final |

Main purpose of the meeting: This meeting is dedicated to the near term schedule and a first more in-depth look at the post-TS1 activities.
Filip (Introduction)
Slide 3. MPP checklist has been launched. Likely stay at 1.6x10^11 for a couple of days, for stability and then we can consider going beyond.
Slide 5. Some work needed in the SPS to get the bunches distribution cleaner; in particular there are still some 200ns-related issues.
Slide 6. Some instabilities in the last fills, but not directly related to the intensity increase.
Slide 7. Talking to LHCb, the INDIV is really critical for commissioning work until TS1 at least, so we will stick to the option [1].
During the meeting it was agreed that we would go for filling scheme [1].
Slide 9. Witold commented that he was impressed by the 1.6x10^11 for physics, but he stresses that for VdM we go back to the intensities for Run2 (0.8x10^11). At 1.1x10^11 there were already issues and having intensities in the proper range. Also emittance would be nicer to have 2.5-3.5 urad.
Enrico and Jorg commented that in principle asking for 0.8 is ok. Big beams (higher emittance) are difficult to gauge before going into collisions.
Jorg commented that it is almost impossible to know the quality of the beams before going into collisions due to the absence of wire scanners in the SPS. (They will not be reinstalled in TS1).
Jorg asked if the optics for the high beta* run (120m) is final. Ilias answered that the end points are final, but not the transitions.
Ilias commented that they will be ready in the next few days.
Jorg also suggested that the 3/6 km should be commissioned before July as it may become difficult
Slide 10-11. VdM1 (ATLAS/CMS) to be finalized by the next LPC meeting.
LHCb (Silvia Gambetta, replacing LHCb Run Coordination team for the meeting).
Witold asked if ghost charge from LHCb can be made.
LHCb will take data, considering however that VELO will stay open during the VdM1.
ALICE (Sarah)
Slide 3. Michi commented that separation leveling should be done only after beta* leveling has been reached for ATLAS/CMS
ATLAS (Silvia)
Slide 2. Michi commented that they don’t see issues with separating at very low mu (0.05) during the pp reference run.
Slide 5. Non-factorization effect to be followed-up still.
Rende will try to follow-up with relevant experts.
Witold asked about the co-linearity knob in VdM.
Jorg answered that it doesn’t exist. Also Jorg commented that this is mostly relevant at low beta*.
CMS (Gaelle)
Slide 8. Ramp-up after TS1 is being discussed with MPP.
